Etienne PICART known as Romain publisher (Paris 1632 - Amsterdam 1721) "Le Sepulcher de NS Jesus Christ" Original engraving by Jacques Lubin (Paris 1637 - 1695) datable to 1686, the year in which it was announced on the Mercure de France, by a subject traditionally but erroneously attributed to Eustache Le Sueur (1616 - 1655) and considered by a recent criticism a work by a copyist who associated elements of both Le Sueur and Poussin and Bourdon. Beautiful specimen trimmed without loss inside the impression of the slab and entirely glued on a support sheet of thick eighteenth-century paper on which you can see the notations in red pencil, with the trace of a central vertical crease and a short recomposed tear at the center of the high edge but overall in excellent general condition. Bibliography: Benezit "Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs" Paris 1976 vol.8 pag.296. (Picart) LeBlanc "Manuel de l'Amateur d'Estampes" Paris 1856, vol.2 pag.576 n ° 1 ( Lubin). Mérot “Eustache Le Sueur” Paris 2000 cat.n ° 30. Measurements in mm: 555ca x 645 on a sheet of 620 x 820
